Remember to consult your laptop's user manual or ASUS support resources for specific instructions related to your model.Look for the key labeled “fn” once you’ve identified the keys used to control the brightness. They can diagnose the problem and provide a suitable solution. In such cases, it's recommended to contact ASUS customer support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. Hardware issue: If none of the above solutions work, there could be a hardware issue with your laptop. Restart your laptop and check if the screen brightness adjustment starts working again. Restart your laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix temporary software glitches or conflicts. Adjust the power plan settings to allow brightness changes if necessary. Make sure you're using an appropriate power plan and that the power settings are not limiting the brightness adjustment. Install the drivers and restart your laptop to see if it resolves the issue.Ĭheck power settings: Some laptops have power-saving features that can affect screen brightness. Visit the ASUS support website or the manufacturer's official website for your graphics card (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) and download the latest drivers for your specific model. Update graphics drivers: Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can sometimes cause issues with screen brightness control. On macOS, you can go to the Apple menu, select "System Preferences," then choose "Display," and adjust the brightness slider. On Windows, you can do this by right-clicking on the desktop, selecting "Display settings," and then adjusting the brightness slider. Make sure you're pressing the keys correctly and that they are not stuck.Īdjust brightness through settings: You can also try adjusting the screen brightness through the operating system's settings. Press the corresponding key combination (usually Fn key + brightness key) to increase or decrease the brightness. Look for the brightness adjustment keys on your keyboard, usually represented by icons like sun symbols or up/down arrows. If you're experiencing an issue with the screen brightness not adjusting on your Asus ROG Strix G16 laptop, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:Ĭheck keyboard shortcuts: Many laptops have dedicated function keys or keyboard shortcuts to adjust the screen brightness. In the end I had to turn off all battery saving features, change windows battery mode to performance mode, restart (though I'm not sure this restart was required), go into armoury crate (or G-Helper, seriously get it), change from ultimate mode to standard which required a restart, checked that brightness was now adjusting, return back into Ultimate mode which also required a restart and now no further issues. Turning off battery saving features in windows did not work as well. Turns out the issue was that during my previous usage, I had the laptop running in Ultimate mode, but when the battery hit 20%, battery saving kicked in, I turned off the laptop, and when turned it on few days later (now) brightness adjust issues occurred. Updated graphics drivers and restarted hardware (did the usual suspects) but no dice. Other function keyboard shortcuts were working, just not screen brightness. I have the Strix g18, and my laptop was also refusing to change its monitor brightness, whether through keyboard shortcuts or changing the brightness slider in windows. Okay I'm posting this here since my google search for the same issue lead me to this post.
